Or I'd go insane. I think he's right. I had one of those obsessive days where I would thing about something for a long time. Weight each factor and size up all of the competition to those factors. I thought so deeply into something that I could have written a book about that one particular moment I was thinking about. Since our brains don't think in complete sentences, I was having a hard time keeping my thoughts organized, and I ended up projecting them instead of writing them inside of my head. Things would pan out like a movie or a music video. I think a lot of people do this, and even my manager says he rarely has days where he doesn't think this way. I can tell. He's really obsessive about what he does and thinks.
Think. Think. Think.
Have you ever had a moment that you don't want to end? It doesn't necessarily have to be with someone you love. Hell, it could be with someone you hate and still enjoy it enough. It's a shame that I think this way. I feel like I miss out on a lot of opportunities because my brain get's in the way. Probably why I'm so self conscious.
EDIT: I sound like such a downer. This is not the angst you're looking for. You need to go about your business. Move along. Move along.
Your car keys are a lot like love. You look everywhere once you've lost them, but they only turn up once you've stopped looking.
Yeah, its okay. I think a lot too, it keeps me from enjoying things that are right in front of me. :)

ReplyDeleteblaming your brain is the easy way out.
ReplyDeletewow. indepth post. also very true.
ReplyDeleteLook, your old man knows what he's talking about. It's one thing to think, but another thing to overthink.
ReplyDeleteNot thinking too much is probably a healthy attitude. Thinking too long and hard about stuff will stress-kill you, given enough time.
ReplyDeleteNice phrase there at the end and yeah i sometimes have the same thinking process and it's just too exhausting but also if you think a lot your cerebral cortex develops more allowing for you to have more sophisticated ways of thinking so there are two sides to it.
ReplyDeleteIgnore me, I'm just moving along... :D
ReplyDeleteYou need to cheer up!
Well we have that in common, I sometimes put so much thought into something, and then relise the thing/person was probably not even affected.
ReplyDeleteyeah same here i cant think too much because i end up getting theses scenarios in my head that would most likely never happen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments guys. And Paper, it is an easy way out, that doesn't mean I practice it often :P
ReplyDeletehmmmm, yes I am totally with about the brain and our thoughts getting in the way. It's horrible. to get away from our mind sometimes might even be worth taking up meditation. :)
ReplyDeleteSir we are on the same boat, Though at the moment I have a problem projecting waht I'm thinking because I'm over think far too much. It even prevents me from sleeping longer. Lately I have felt my brain cells slowly deteriorating. Damn life . Why do I worry too much.
ReplyDelete@ Dayna I'm with you I took up meditation for a few months, it helped clear my mind and helped me think much more diligently. I was able to think through things in life much more easily.
ReplyDeleteDamn well I have the same moments as you some times, I try to listen to relaxing music while it inspires to write the things I need to write "] +followed
ReplyDeleteThe way I figure when it comes to thinking about something thats been bugging you or worrying you. If it is outside of your reach of control, then there is no reason putting all that wasted energy into thinking about it!
ReplyDeleteI really like this. :) I feel exactly the same way.
ReplyDeleteI'm in a weird stage where it's hard to feel for other people. I'll grow out of it, or learn how to, but right now I just want to do my own thing.
I'll admit I think too much. It really has gotten in the way. I get afraid of all the bad consequences I've thought up and avoid doing whatever I wanted to do.

I wouldn't say 'downer', per say, but 'devoted thinker'. I call my bro that when he's over-analyzing things.
